Episode #193 – You owe it to yourself to be healthy

Play episode

Jane Barlow Christensen comes from a background in the health, fitness, and wellness industry. Her journey as a professional began in 1979, when she began teaching group fitness classes. As the years went by, Jane got into gym membership sales and eventually managed a 24 Hour Fitness location in the Salt Lake Valley, all the while still teaching aerobics (mostly step classes). Over this time, Jane developed a dream to open her own gym, and in 1998 she made that dream a reality, partnering with her little sister and cutting the ribbon for Midvale Athletic Club. They had taken the old firehouse and turned into a brand new gym. Although the gym did not turn out to be a profitable endevour and eventually closed, Jane and her sister gained an incredible amount of wisdom and experience. After a brief return to her old gym management role, she had had enough and decided to resurrect her late father’s once-thriving herbal tincture business. In 2001, Barlow Herbal Specialties was born. Jane rebuilt the company at a steady pace and now BHS is a powerhouse player in the herbal supplement industry. Dr. Max Barlow, her father, developed some extraordinarily powerful and effective formulas, many of which BHS carries on to this day. Jane has developed many tinctures, capule products, and skin care products to add to her father’s repertoire and has built an extremely loyal following. Jane currently employs 6 people, including her two sons!
